Brennan, Michael E.

Michael E. Brennan, 76, of Monmouth died at 7:55 A.M. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at his home of natural causes.

He was born January 21, 1931 at Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Michael J. and Margaret (Smith) Brennan.  He was raised and educated in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from Trinity High School in 1949.  He then graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1957.

Mike married Florence Fox on January 4, 1958 at Sheridan, Wyoming and she survives.

He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1951 until 1954.

He was owner and operator of B & B Cattle Co. & Commodities in Monmouth from 1962 until retiring in 2002.  He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening and fishing and was an avid Notre Dame sports fan.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth , the Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree.

His family includes his wife, Flo Brennan, of Monmouth, five children, Kevin (Catie) Brennan of Western Springs, IL, Diane (Mark) Germann of Plainville, IL, Cathy (Jeff Thomas) Betar of Monmouth, Michael T. Brennan of Monmouth and Francis Brennan of Hanna City, IL, 5 grandchildren, Shawn Betar, Ryan Brennan, Tim Brennan, Madeline Brennan and Connor Brennan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Thomas Brennan; granddaughter, Ashley Betar and favorite aunt, Mary J. Smith.

A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 2, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Monclova celebrating.  Cremation has been accorded.  Friends may call on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be left for the Michael T. Brennan Special Needs Trust.
