Fry, Wilbur D. "Bud" Sr.
Wilbur D. “Bud” Fry, Sr., 78, of Monmouth died at 11:57 P.M. Monday, March 26, 2007 at Community Medical Center, Monmouth.
He was born April 22, 1928 in Hillview, Illinois the son of Art and Edith (Stark) Fry. Bud was raised and educated in Little York.
At the age of 15 Bud enlisted in the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1942 until 1945. While in the Navy he was a Golden Glove Boxer.
Bud married Joanne Klein in Galesburg, Illinois on March 23, 1956 and she survives.
Bud worked at the OK Tire Shop in Monmouth for 11 years and later for Wells Pet Food as a machinist for 14 years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on lawn mowers and helping out his family and friends.
He was of Christian Faith.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne Fry of Monmouth; 3 children, Martha Fry of Little York, IL, Bud (Debbie) Fry of Copper Mountain, CO and Jerry (Debbie) Fry of Lakeside, CA; 2 sisters, Clara Singleton and Joyce Stripe both of Monmouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Cremation has been accorded. Graveside committal and burial of ashes will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth with Rev. Kenneth Klein officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Veterans Clinic in Galesburg or Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth.
