Heslop, Joyce

Joyce Heslop, 86, of Monmouth, died 7:00 A.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was born June 16, 1921 in Manchester, England, the daughter of Harold and Louisa (Scott) Bradshaw. She was reared and educated in Manchester, England.

Joyce married John Heslop on December 23, 1944 in Manchester, England and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1977.

She was employed in England as a cashier for John Noble Ltd and then worked for Gamble Skogmo, Inc. in Monmouth until becoming a stay at home mother.  Joyce and her husband, John, immigrated to the United States in February 1952 and later became U.S. Citizens.  They chose the Monmouth area in order to be near Joyces’s sister Pat (Jack) Brokaw of Biggsville.  Joyce’s main loves were her family and taking care of children, grandchildren and animals.  She was an avid “Wheel of Fortune” watcher and loved to tell jokes.

Her family includes her daughter, Susan (Douglas) Ray of Monmouth, three grandsons, Michael Ray, Gregory Ray and James Ray all of Monmouth and one brother in law, Jack Brokaw of Biggsville along with Nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, 2 sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26. 2007 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Jon Sims of the First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.  Memorials may be left for F-Wing of OSF Holy Family Medical Center or the First United Methodist Church.
