Dorothy A. Stevenson, 77, of Alexis died at 12:05 A.M. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.

She was born July 2, 1930 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Mildred (Lydic) Benson. She was raised and educated in Orion, Illinois.

Dorothy married William H. Stevenson in Orion on August 26, 1954 and he died January 4, 1983.

Dorothy worked as a bank teller at the Orion Bank for several years.  She also worked part time at the Bank of Alexis.

She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, PEO, D.A.R., serving on the Alexis Museum Board and the Alexis Cemetery Board.

Surviving are her two daughters, Patricia (Gene) Sims of Alexis, Linda (Robb) Tollefson of DePere, WI; one son, William B. Stevenson of Chicago; two grandchildren, Ashley Sims of Alexis and William Sims of Alexis; two step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; one brother in law, Willard G. Johnson of Geneseo; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Karen Johnson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Phil Cooper officiating.  Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday after 3:00 P.M. at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where her family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
