Hoover, Dorothy M.

Dorothy Mae Hoover, 83, of Monmouth died at 11:23 P.M. Sunday, January 18, 2009 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was born May 5, 1925 in Monmouth the daughter of George and Nora (Kelley) Strong.  Dorothy was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1943.

Dorothy married William C. “Bill” Hoover in Monmouth on July 11, 1947 and he survives.

Dorothy worked at Illinois Banker Life Co, the Monmouth Elks Club and Brown Lynch Scott all in Monmouth.  She also worked as a teacher’s assistant at Warren Achievement School for 10 years.  Her main interests were her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren, playing cards and many crafts.

She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, the Monmouth American Legion and Monmouth VFW Auxiliaries and the Warren County Republican Women.

Surviving along with her husband is her daughter, Deborah Ann Hall of Monmouth; 2 grandsons, William M. (Kari E.) Hall of Margate, FL and Brian A. (Sarah A.) Hall of Monmouth; 3 great granddaughters, Alexa Danielle Hall and, Madelyn Karigan Hall both of Margate, FL and Aubrey Lynn Hall of Monmouth; 1 great grandson, Bryson Clay Hall of Monmouth along with nieces and nephews..

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Ken Muck of the Countryside Bible Church.  Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call on Wednesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Memorials may be left for Faith United Presbyterian Church or the Western Illinois Animal Rescue fund
