Brown, Eugene C.
Eugene C. Brown, 79, of North Henderson, IL died at 7:35 P.M. Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at OSF St, Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born February 1, 1930 at Tomah, Wisconsin, the son of David and Alice (Chambers) Brown. He was raised and educated in Tomah, Wisconsin where he attended schools.
Eugene served in the U.S. Army as PFC at Camp Rucker, Alabama from 1950 to 1952.
Eugene married Pauline Swanson in Kirkwood, IL on June 28, 1951 and she survives.
He worked maintenance at Maytag for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed his family, traveling, camping, woodworking, family reunions and motorcycling.
He attended the North Henderson United Methodist Church.
His family includes his wife, Pauline, six children, James (Margaret) Brown of Russell Springs, KY, Joy (Steve) McKelvie of Alexis, Jeffrey (Penny) Brown of Gilson, IL, Judith (Tim) Bressler of Fremont, IN, Jolene (Rick) Pitman of Alexis and Jason Brown of Galesburg, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren and one brother, Verlyn Brown of Texas along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter, Jenna and nephew, Denney Brown.
Funeral services will be 1:30 Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Hoover-hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis with Rev. Lee Savage of the North Henderson United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow the services. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. on Saturday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.
