Palmer, Dorothy M.

Dorothy M. Palmer, 87, of Monmouth, died 12:35 P.M., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

She was born May 26, 1921, in Monmouth, the daughter of Harold and Izetta (Cook) Foster.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth, where she graduated from Monmouth High School in 1939 and then attended Beautician School in Burlington.

Dorothy married James Welch in Monmouth on November 11, 1945.  She married Everett Palmer on March 13, 1976 at Monmouth and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1998.

She was Beautician from 1940 until retiring in 1976.  She also held a Real Estate license.  She enjoyed painting, decorating and cross stitching.

Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Monmouth and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 136 of Monmouth.

Her family includes her daughter, Laurie (Jack) Bodeen of Berwick and two grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Hill of Charlotte, TN and Michael Bodeen of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, James and one sister, Betty Pettett.

A prayer service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth.   Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.  A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel followed by visitation until 7:00 P.M.  Memorials may be left for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
