Higbee, Frances E .

Frances E. Higbee, 91 of Galesburg, formerly of North Henderson, died 8:50 PM Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

She was born September 15, 1917 at Roseville, IL, the daughter of Clarence A. and Lucy A. (Adkisson) Holeman.  She was raised and educated in Roseville, where she graduated from Roseville High School in 1935.

Frances married Virgil L. Higbee on January 3, 1939 at Kahoka, MO and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1996.

She was a bookkeeper for Olson Grain and Supply in North Henderson for 23 years and then worked at IMC Fertilizer in North Henderson for 5 years, retiring in 1979.  She enjoyed bowling until the age of 85, she also enjoyed playing cards, reading and traveling.

She was a member of the North Henderson United Methodist Church, a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Rio, American Business Women’s Association, TOPS, North Henderson Floral Club, and the Oaks in Galesburg.  She had served as an Election Judge for several years.

Her family includes her son, Tom (Judy) Higbee of Tempe, AZ and daughter Connie (Dale) Sundberg of Woodhull, IL, 4 grandchildren, Mary Frances (Eric) Click of Phoenix, AZ, John Higbee of Tempe, AZ, Steve (Annette) Sundberg of Andover, IL and Kimberly (Kirby) Price of Clarno, WI, 4 great grandchildren, Benjamin Sunberg, Ella Sundberg, Anna Price and Abby Price and one sister, Martha “Peg” (Chuck) Lehne of East Moline, IL along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Richard L. Higbee and one brother, Wilfred Holeman.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis with Rev. Lee Savage of the North Henderson United Methodist Church.  Cremation will follow the services with private family interment of ashes in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, at a later date. Visitation with her family will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis.  Memorials may be left for the North Henderson United Methodist Church
