Zielke, C. Dean
C. Dean Zielke, 87. Of Oquawka, IL, died 1:35 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Royal Oaks Care Center, Kewanee, IL.
He was born October 22, 1921, at Little York, Illinois, the son of Charles and Rachel (Adams) Zielke. He was raised and educated in the Little York area.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Medic in the African and European theaters
Dean married Phyllis A. Carlson at the Rozetta Baptist Church on March 15, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2007.
He was a life time farmer in the Rozetta area.
His family includes on son Robert D. (Sandra) Zielke of Boerne, TX, 3 grandchildren, Brian Scott (Mary) Zielke of Oquawka, Rachael Zielke of Oquawka and Robin (Brad) Harrell of Boerne, TX, 5 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Zielke, Victoria Zielke, Rebecca Zielke, Michael Zielke and Maddison Zielke-Stover. Two brothers, James (Martha) Zielke of Monmouth and Raymond Zielke of Florida, one sister Betty Alecock of Moline along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be 2:00 on Tuesday, Sept 1, 2009 at Hoover-hall memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Jim Bennett of the Rozetta Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Monday, August 31 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
