Otis Edward Olson

Otis Edward Olson 86, of Alexis, died 9:23 P.M. December 2, 2009 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

He was born May 12, 1923, the son of Otto Otis and Emma (Dahl) Olson.  He was reared and educated in Mercer County and graduated from Alexis High School in 1941.

He married Norma Jean Rankin in Monmouth on October 23, 1949 and she survives.

He farmed and lived in the same house all of his life.  He retired in 1988 and then continues to assist his sons in farming.  He enjoyed collecting clocks and pocket watches.

He was a member of the Norwood Presbyterian Church.

His family includes his wife Norma Jean, three daughters, Marjorie (Dermot) Olson of Willington, DE, Barbara (Steve Lair) Olson of Alexis and Terry (Scott) Faust of Westminster, CO, five sons, Jim (Denise) Olson , Dennis (Julie) Olson, Gary (Margo) Olson, David (Paula) Olson and Randy (Tammy) Olson all of Alexis, 14 grandchildren, including Jennifer Mettler, daughter of deceased son, Tom, whom spent many hour with Ed and Jean and 7 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tom Olson, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. Monday December 7, 2007 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Agnes Brady of the Norwood Presbyterian Church.  Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.  Friends may call after noon on Sunday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Memorial may be left for the Norwood Presbyterian Church.
