George Robson Gossett
George Robson Gossett, 62, of Roseville, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at his home.
He was born March 19, 1947 at Monmouth, IL, the son of Carlton and Mary (Robson) Gossett. He was raised and educated in Roseville, where he graduated from Roseville High School in 1965. He attended Monmouth College.
George served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, Virginia from May 1967 until May 1970.
George married Barbara Haggenjos on December 28, 1974 at Palatine, IL and she survives.
He worked at Farm King for 20 years and then was the sexton at Faith United Presbyterian Church for a number of years. He then worked at Roseville Village Hardware. He enjoyed woodworking and history in general including family, cemetery and Roseville history.
He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church and had been attending Grace Bible Church of Monmouth. He was a life member of the Roseville American Legion Post.
His family includes his wife, Barbara of Monmouth, one brother, William (Nancy) Gossett of Roseville and one sister, Elizabeth (Ted) Kalb of Lebanon, PA along with nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Faith United Presbyterian church with Rev. William Myers. Burial with military honors will be in Roseville Township Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where his family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be left for Monmouth Nursing Home, Faith United Presbyterian Church or Grace Bible Church.
