Lady Marie Bower.
Marie Bower, 95, of Galesburg, formerly of Monmouth died at 1:37 P.M. Sat. January 2, 2009 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born November 23, 1914 in Roseville, Illinois the daughter of Sherman and Abbie (Donovan) Vaughan. She was reared and educated in Roseville and graduated from Roseville in 1933.
Marie married Gerald Bower in Galesburg on December 27, 1934 and he passed away August 25, 1976.
She was a homemaker and worked for the Formfit Company in Monmouth. She also worked as a cook at Monmouth College. She enjoyed crafts and at one time she owned a craft shop that she ran from her home.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth.
Surviving are 2 sons, Alvin (Jeannie) Bower of Galesburg and Larry (Marjorie) Bower of Monmouth; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Patricia Sprinkle, one granddaughter, Mary Ann McDorman, one great granddaughter, Megan Bower and one brother.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00A.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, with Fr. Anthony Bernas. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will be present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
