Howard L. Rossell

Howard L. Rossell, 64, of Alexis, died 3:39 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.

He was born Jan. 24, 1945 in Galesburg, IL the son of Ray Dale and Alpharetta (Trout) Rossell.  He was raised and educated in the Galesburg area.

Howard married Judy Powell in Galesburg in 1963 and she passed away Dec. 14, 1974.  He later married Virginia Hogan on April 23, 1978 in North Henderson and she survives.

Howard worked at Maytag for 34 years and farmed in the New Windsor area for 30 years.

He enjoyed his family and his grandchildren.  He loved the out of doors and took pride in his lawn and gardening.  He also had a strong interest in cars and trucks.

Howard is survived by his wife, Virginia of Alexis, IL; son, Howard Rossell, Jr. of Knoxville, IL; daughters, Marie (Troy) Johnson of Galesburg and Bobbie (Brian) Neice of Alexis; son, Todd (Lisa) Boyer of Longmont, CO; step son Larry Hogan of Peoria; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 4 brothers, Dale (Rita) Rossell of Galesburg, Alfred (Sharon) Rossell of Geneseo, Albert (Liz) Rossell of Galesburg, Bill (Rosie) Rossell of Henderson, IL; 1 sister, Barb (Don) Myrick of Henderson, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tues. Jan. 12, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth.  Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery.  Friends may call Mon. Jan 11, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
