Ralph L. Link

Ralph L. Link, Jr., 85, of New Windsor, Illinois formerly of Kirkwood, died at 2:03 PM Monday, March 8, 2010 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

 He was born July 12, 1924 in Kirkwood, Illinois the son of Ralph L. Sr. and Sadie (Seymore) Link.  He was raised and educated in Oquawka, Illinois.

Ralph married Mildred Chick in Palmyra, Mo. on February 5, 1943 and she died March 12, 2005.

Ralph was a carpenter for 48 years, retiring in 1991.  He worked for Tunnicliff Contractors in the Quad Cities for 13 years. He last worked for Civil Contractors in East Moline for 17 years before retiring.

He loved to spend time with his family.

Ralph was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #166 in Rock Island for 40 years.

Surviving are his 3 children, Janet (Bill) Mitchell of Blue Grass, IA, Kenneth (Frances) Link of Lynn Center, IL and Hank (Mary) Link of Monmouth, IL; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (Carolyn) Link of Oquawka; 1 half brother, Raymond Link of Oquawka; 1 half sister, Ruth Ann Hubbard of Carmen; and dearest friend Kay Link.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Lois Brammer in 1988, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thurs. March 11, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth.  Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth.  Friends may call Wed. March 10, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 6:00-7:30 P.M.  A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
