Charles E. Kunz

Charles E. Kunz, 80, of Davenport, Iowa formerly of the Alexis area died at 8:52 P.M. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Genesis East in Davenport, IA.

He was born May 15, 1930 in Alexis, Illinois the son of Erwin and Annabel (Driffil) Kunz.  He was reared and educated in Alexis.

Charles married Shelby Lewis in Alexis, IL. on July 15, 1955.

Charles farmed near Letts, IA and retired from the City of Davenport, Iowa in 1992.  He enjoyed car racing and working on cars. In 1998 along with his son and daughter in law, he established Alerissa Boxers

Surviving is his son, Charles D. “Chico”  (Rebecca) Kunz of Davenport, IA; daughter, Kathryn (Ed) Winnett of Portland, OR; grandsons, Matthew (LeeAnn) Kunz, Jon (Serria) Winnett, Scott (Lisa) Tennet; granddaughters, Sarah (Jesse) Baker, Jessica (Matt) Lane, Jackie (Ryan) Adair; 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.   Memorials may be given to Boxer Rescue Foundation “Toby’s Gift”.
