Viola F. Upton

Viola F. Upton, 98, of Monmouth died at 4:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Monmouth Nursing Home.

She was born March 4, 1913 in Kansas the daughter of Warren and Aimee (Ozias) Miller.  She was raised and educated in Ransom and Streator, Illinois

Viola married John D. Upton in Ransom, IL. on Oct. 24, 1930 and he died January 2, 1944.

Viola worked in local restaurants including the Maid Rite, Park N Eat and the Triangle Café.  She also worked as a radio dispatcher for the old Maple City Cab. She was an avid gardener and canner.

She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Monmouth.

Survivors include her son, John “J.D.”  (Mary) Upton of Monmouth; daughter, Corinne Faye Ameen of Nevada, IA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Freda Moore of Kansas City, KS.

Her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. No visitation or calling hours are planned. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in charge of the arrangements.
