Stephen S. Hall - Funeral Director/Owner
Stephen Hall grew up in Kirkwood, IL, and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1972 during the Vietnam Conflict aboard the USS Southerland DD743, and at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Waukegon, IL.
Upon being Honorably Discharged from the Navy, he attended Western Illinois University in Macomb for one year before enrolling at Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago in September of 1973.
He joined Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel upon graduating from mortuary school in September 1974, where he served his apprenticeship under William C. Hoover, with whom he continued working until purchasing the funeral home in 1993. He continues to perform the daily operations of both the Monmouth and Alexis funeral homes.
He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth, where he has served and continues to serve on various boards. He has been a member of the Monmouth Kiwanis Club since 1975, having served as president for two terms. He as also served on the Warren County United Way Board, Warren County Cancer Society, Crime Stoppers, and was the Warren County Prime Beef President in 1991, in addition to other community activities.
He has devoted his working life to serving those who have lost a member of their family, taking pride in knowing he has given his best in serving those families.
Aloysius J. "Al" McGuire - Funeral Director
Al McGuire was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Hanover Park, IL. He graduated from Hoffman Estates High School and attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA, where he recieved his B.A. in Secondary Special Education.
While attending Loras, Al became interested in Funeral Services as a career after living and working at Egelhoff-Casper-Strueber Funeral Home in Dubuque. Following his graduation from Loras, Al attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in suburban Chicago, and in 1986, he married Beverly Witt of Clinton, IA. While at Worsham, Al assisted at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove, IL, and later he served his apprenticeship at Sax-Tiedeman Funeral Home in Franklin Park, IL. Before Al and Bev moved to Monmouth in 1991, Al also worked at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, in Park Ridge, IL.
In addition to working at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Al keeps involved in several community organizations, including the Monmouth Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Warren County United Way Endowment Committee, Immaculate Conception Church, the Security Savings Bank Board of Directors, as well as serving on several other civic groups.
Al also keeps very busy with the various events of his four children and is an avid bicycle rider. He has dedicated his career to providing a high degree of professionalism, compassion, and understanding to the families he is honored to have served.
